PoolGod.
Do you have access to a LARGE capacitor? Say, 1/2 fared (500,000 microfared)?
We are looking for a way to reinforce the electrical system to run the lights. We can make a battery work but that adds a lot of weight. Maybe a large cap could help us out. Connect the cap between the voltage regulator and ground. That might be enough to stop or at least help the dimming issue. A bleed down circuit will have to be added or the cap will stay charged, unless you turn your lights on after the engine is cut off.
And we would need to be shure the current couldnt flow back and fry the regulator.
Wait a minute, this is getting complicated quick. And water/mud and electronics do not mix well.

Let me think about this. I would like to try some ideas out but will not have a chance till next weekend.
May have to add a battery and work out how to charge it safely. The regulator may have to be redesigned........

More to come.

Enjoy St. Pattys gentleman! I have contacted the Rep for the folks that make the light I was experimenting with, and no capasitor needed. Dimming will not be an issue if it is made without the color changing thingy's soldered to the board. I know you are loving the techno speak! We need the OTHER thingys on the board (sorry, I don't have a clue)

My engine will be done Tuesday, and I will experiment then, I will let you all know..

On a side note, everything I have read says I have to break in my engine for the next 10 hours or 200 miles?? only 2000 rpm for a few minutes?

I have to wait that long to see what 270cc is like? If true, this is gonna be rough. Let me know please.

Hey PG, if you don't mind me asking, how much did the 273 work cost you. i take it you sent the entire engine to them and they did their thing?

i have a 230 lt with the goki electric start and it came with a diode to keep the voltage from going back to the lighting coil so my battery gets charged.

Perfect.
The issue with battery charge is a non issue now. All we need is a diode large enough to handel the current draw of the light. A 6 amper should do the trick. Radio shack should have them. If not you can combine smaller ones in parallel to get the current capability. Size does matter (sorry).

Where does the battery mount on your machine? Is there a recommendation from the manufacture of the starter kit or do thay leave it up to the individual customer?

Oh by the by. I received my Dura Blue Axle yesterday. This thing is a monster. I cant belive I waited so long to pick one up.
And guess what.
