Vince seemed like a REALLY nice guy! Yes, we talked for about an hour. I REALLY like that chain guard thing u made. I have TONS of angle Iron at my disposal, but no welder. Could I make something by drilling and bolting to the swing-arm??? Will I be able to remove the bearings from the swing-ARM myself, or will they need pressed out? I will Happily buy a new HARDENED bolt set for the swing-arm bolt from the hardware if I can find it. Thanks again for the info!!!!!

 

The swing arm bearings are not pressed in, but if they havn't been changed in a while they can be a pain to get out.

You may need #7 and a couple #5's depending how yours look.

I'm sure you could use bolts instead of welding. I found the chain guide for a Yamaha Warrior on ebay a few months ago.

Its a balmy 9 here right now at 11:30 pm. Next week is supposed to be double digit negatives for most of the week!!! [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif[/img] Looks like I won't be riding!

 

Double digit negatives are a little too cold. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif[/img] I used to live in northern OH and in one year it would go from -10 or less in Jan. to 103 or more by summer! That's a 113 degree swing at least in the space of about 6 months. Here is might get down in the 20's and up to 100, but neither is really the norm.

Proof it used to snow in GA (Yup, those are GA pines and red clay under the snow):





I took those in 1987 or 88. The last big snow in GA was 1993. That year was a blizzard that shut society down for 2 weeks! No water, no electricity, nobody at the store even if you could get there. It was crazy. Hasn't really snowed since (except for the usual 1/4 dusting).

So what I'm thinking I'll do if I can get it, is take what I want off of it (suspension mainly) and then give it to my girlfriend if it runs good with my suspension parts back on that one.

 

Nice find on the 250!

If anybody wants a repairable set of orange rear fender let me know. It has a couple of cracks, but the cracks are closed on each end, so it would be a solid repair with some ties and or adhesive. I have had good luck with a 3M product, that I used on My YFZ, can't find the tube right now though. (?).

Anyways if someone on here wants them because they are better than what you have, just pay for shipping. Other wise if I fix I will try to sell, and if I don't fix I will toss in the trash. I am going to sell the front since they are in good shape with no cracks.

I am thinking of adding 1-2 coils off my extra rear shock spring to the good one when I put it on my 230, I feel this will help counter act my extra weight, I way 230 + and don't want to bottom out the good shock. what do you guys think? Should I go with the standard coil, ot the close together coil and use more as a spacer? Let's hear what you guys think.

 

My friend weighs 250+ and doesn't have any trouble with the stock shock. I have another friend that weighs in over 350 and he's ridden my 230 without problems.

I guess it depends on how high you plan on jumping.

The close together coil is the softest part. If you want to increase the weight carrying capacity, use the wide part of the coil and crank up the pre-loading.
