woohoo! i'm heading out to the Black Hills of S.D. in May. anyone up for a road-trip? this'll be the first time to take the quad with me and have a little fun tearing it up thru the woods. bring your chainsaw and i'll provide the beer. i gotta clear dead trees and spray for a pine beetle infestation. just gotta figure out how to put a spark arrester on my pipe. ( not that pipe)

Man, that sounds like fun, but SD is a little far for me right now.

I have a bunch of trees I need to clear out myself. The sweetgums that need cutout from my loblollies. Pine beetles are a big problem too. Now that its warm n wet, they'll be out in full force attacking all the trees that get scraped from quads. What do you spray? Is it a tree farm or something?

That would actually go over quite well with the tards that work at the suzuki shop around here. According to them, my friend has a 1970 250 quadsport and the 230S didn't exist in 1986. Geniuses, huh. I'm kinda glad the economic recession weeded these numb-nuts out of a job so I can get some decent service when I call with a simple question before driving all across town for nothing.

Too true. I can't imagine any of the dealer owners around here went to any sort of business school. They're selling a luxury item and they're usually open 4 days a week until around 4, then like noon to 2 on Saturday! WTF are they thinking?? I'd be open Thurs-Mon, with the service dept. open for 7 days with the money I'd save having the sales dept closed Tue-Wed. And the sales dept. would be open from about 12-8 each night it was open to reel in the customers at a time of their convenience!

I went to one dealer a couple weekends ago at 3:30 on a Saturday and they were closed. I don't know how they get any business.

What's the difference if any between that 250 Q Runner and the King Quad 300? Just the motor size?

i just got a coupla acres with a teeny-tiny cabin.
after reading further and talking to a state forester, it's really bad and about all i can do is clear the big trees and leave the smaller trees and hope for the best. it's turning into a serious epedemic in the western states. estimates are it could wipe out half of the timber. whole hillsides are just dead. drought and lack of responsible land management (logging) are just making matters worse.
i've cleared a lot trees but there's 3 f=ing huge trees behind the cabin that hafta come down pronto!
