Clutch Kit for 700 Kingquad
#22
If you can get them to admit to ever screwing up in the first place. It is a 50 50 short on the large spring. They either turn it to the right (wrong way) or to the left (sorrect). Then they put the weights in the front clutch. That is it, the dalton is realy easy to do since it does not have to do the springs in the wet clutch. They just need to be 100% that they do not tighten the clutch bolts against the belt. It they set the belt under the outer edge of the rear pully about an inch all the way around, that will allow the front pully to go into place and be torqued properly.
Thanks and good luck.

And what to do if, when I get this thing back, I just don't have anymore low-end than stock? I plan to test ride it immediately after it leaves the shop. If something's not right, should I tell them to take it right back in or should I ask the mechanic which way he turned the spring or what?

Has the guy that is working on your king ever done a clutch kit before? I would voice my concerns before he does the work and I would rather him tell me he is not able to do the job, than him learn on my bike. Tell him you know for a fact that there is a correct way and a wrong way to install the spring ansd for him to be sure he turns it to the left to make the retainer cap line up with the flat spots, so the nut can be put back on. With the kit you are doing that is realy the only other thing he can screw up. Other than not getting the bolts in the pullies torqued correctly. If he does that you will know pretty quick. If he is good at his job and can read the direction , you will be alright. Now get some sleep, it will be fine, I hope! Just kidding with you.

Well, it's already in the shop, but if the directions explain everything fully, then I won't worry so much I guess. He sounded like he knew exactly what to do because he was explaining the process to me beforehand and seemed to know exactly where everything went and what the results would be.

Oh I definitely will. We've just sunk a ton more money into this thing with the clutch, tires, filter and front bumper and I'll be anxious to bolt everything on and hit the trails. I can't do it this coming weekend though because it's going to be very cold here and I just don't think braving the frigidness is worth it unless we're riding in the snow. However, when it does warm up at least noticeably from a high of 30 on a Saturday or Sunday, you'll be wishing you'd never told me to let you guys know because I'll probably have an article on how everything worksThanks for your help though DavAsh

I ran my bike with 26's and the Dalton Kit against a 2005 Brute Force 750. We were neck and neck on the first run nd he got me by a bumper the second time. I can live with that. He has 26;s I think. the Dalton kit pretty much brought me back to stock performance with the big tires. Hope u find the souce of the trouble with ur kit!
