Quadzilla apraisal I need Help
#21
Ok here is the scoop on zilla 2. It used to be a race bike and then was sold to a friend of the racer (current owner) it runs on 110 octane gas and runs very well. I an going to go look at it the weekend after next. The price is 2750 I give him a 250 dollar deposit and he will hold the bike for 30 days (I am in the middle of selling my bike). What do ya think?

Now you've got me stumped. Zilla #2 was a race bike? Always be cautious when buying a former race bike! A race bike is almost certain to have frame damage - especially one that is 17 years old. Either way I think you may be buying a money pit, as someone else posted. Bottom line, you may have to look at both bikes real close. Go with the one that has the fewest problems. Even if you choose Zilla #1, Im sure you can find a stock swingarm on Ebay for cheap.

I am goignt o go check it out the weekend after next I will be able to examine it and ride it before I commit unlike the other zilla I will inspect the frame thouroughly I already thouight of that. Its just hard to find 89s in my area and price range 90 percent of zillas on ebay are on the east coast and =gas prices have driven up the cost of shipping to the point where I cant afford them.

Don't be afraid to ask questions. IF it was raced its probably beat up.. Check the swing arm for cracks, The frame right behind the footpegs,Ask what was done to the motor, crank bearings, what bore its on, head shaved? Water pump leak? All issues you will have to address to get the bike sound..I just bought one a few months ago and these are some of the things I had to fix...
Good luck
Good luck

I am new the forums but wanted some advise. I just bought an 87 quadzilla from the original owner. Pretty much stock, has had the top end done once. Overally clean and straight. Plastic is faded but still there. Is it worth $1600?
