I'm done with the King Quad...time to move on...

No...this bike is worth the price I paid. The prices vary considerably between some dealers. I got a "good" deal for an XT. 9k. That is the same price they were asking for a Polaris 800 and nobody has said anything. The skid plates are optional. In fact, the dealer and mechanics said it was overkill. BRP has a revolutionary frame sysytem that is one piece of steel that goes the length of the undercarraige. A skid plate is just additional protection. Grizzly...you know you want to ride this...C'mon over I let you take 'er for a spin!

From what I've read your playing with fire without additional protection underneath.9K thats $3000 more than a King, and I didn't have to put aftermarket protection on it underneath either.Polaris 800's price is high also, but with anything polaris just look and you will find them cheaper at certain dealers just like the rest of their lineup.I'll leave my polaris opinions to myself, and go back to the Bomb. They sound like excellent machines, but their price is just fricken ridiculous!Did ya trade your King in or sell it outright? You should do some reading on the Highlifter forum about the underbelly protection for the Bomb.Guys that own them HIGHLY recommend you get 'em.

A lot of people are getting them at the 8k mark or a hair under as I understand. So the pricing has come down quite a bit as production ramped up. As for skid plates I would still pick up a set. Everything I've read says that they still could use them if you ride in really rough conditions. In fact Bombardier, BRP or Can-Am or whatever they are calling themselves now, have put skids on the 2007s I guess.
BTW, they say the composite skids are great. They seem to slide over rocks and logs instead of grabbing like aluminum or other metal plates do. One of the guys I talked to that had a Outlander 800 had the composite skidplates and he loved them. Made out of a heavy dense plastic material of some kind.

The thin steel frame does not take a hit with a rock without "crushing" even at moderate speeds (15mph). This is the one well documented flaw of the 800. I would buy them ASAP...
The visco will never be tested in rock piles on 90% of the quads... and sounds like it does great in mud and snow.
Watch the nose on hills (some guys say even on the flats!) and be careful, and it will be a blast to have!
You should be able to out drag any 4x4 made... (yet) and it ride smooth. And if you have the money then it's worth it to you... I could get by with a 400, but shelled out the extra for a quad made for my type of riding...
The only negitive comment I have... it has to be the most ugly thing from thr front I've ever seen... but, my brother just laughs and says"you'll only have to look at the back anyway..." it does look like its been hit with the ugly stick... LOL!

Monzooki...Good to hear from you. I absolutely am ordering skids for this thing. The Visco lock problem I had heard is only with larger tires. Appears to be a sensor problem. First impressions...are the ones that stick with you...they are: Solid, stout and strong. There is a resemblance in the ride and handling to the King Quad. However, thats where it ends (respectfully). The power of this thing has to be experienced...it is amazing. You have to be careful as it feels like it wants to "wheelie" every time you hit the gas. Also, on gravel, one must be careful, as it "fishtails" effortlessly on turns...you have to remain awake at all times riding this thing. As for the looks...beauty is in the eye of the beholder...I know what you are saying. However, the styling is so original and well thought out that one becomes attatched to it. Finally...this machine lives up to the hype. The ride and handling of the King Quad is the 2nd. best in the industry (even with the squirrely steering at higher speeds). The King, as it improves in years to come, may find it's way back into my garage. However, not without the bugs being totally removed!
I will always be a loyal friend to this site even though I have moved to another camp. Some of the guys here have been the best on this entire atvconnection. We will always be friends. Hey...don't forget, I still own an Vinson!

I agree, the power is amazing on the bomb!
I'd really be in trouble up here if I only rode with suzuki's... to date I'm the only one in my group, or family anymore... so don't worry no hard feelings here! It's always great to have a new quad!
My caution is also from the heart... these things are fun, but the guy who rolled his in a corner also split his pelvis bone... YIKES!!!! I was not with him at the time, but others from my group were... we all need to be careful, but with the power of the bomb... just watch it on the hills and corners until you fine tune the limits on this thing! It is a beast. The same could be said for the KQ .. a guy out in a local area
(not from my group) jumped his KQ higher and higher until he came down wrong and snapped both his legs on the bars... he had a bone sticking 8 inches out of his leg! YIKES AGAIN!!!
If I ever could get used to it's looks... I'd get a max xt( the xt does help the looks in my opinion)... the longer wheelbase would most likley save my life! LOL! I get out on the edge now and then, but then my wife would want to ride with me and she keeps me in line. But they need to come down about 2500 in price for me to even think about it.
Have fun! And let us know how she holds up, my bro is just getting past about 200 miles on his...
