My new Eiger is having issues. Need suggestions
#1
This week I purchased a manual Eiger from an individual and it only had six miles on it so it was basically new (he won it in an auction, but already had a Honda that he preferred). I've driven it around the yard a few times and it has always cranked within a couple of seconds and idled fine. Today I had the opportunity to take it out and really ride it in an effort to get a good start on completing the break-in procedure as dictated by the manual. After about 8 miles of riding today, it kept wanted to die and the throttle was very sluggish at first. I had to keep my thumb on the throttle or else it would die. On the 3 occasions it actually did die, it was very, very hard to start. The last time it died I thought I was going to have to walk back to my truck. I sat there trying to get it cranked for about 5 minutes. In order for it to crank I had to give it what seemed to be an enormous amount of throttle. Once it finally cranked, it was missing bad up to about 1/4 throttle, but seemed better above that. After sitting for about 4 hours, I went back out tonight and it fired right up, idled fine, and ran like a champ.
I would hardly ever be mistaken for a mechanic and I plan on taking this to either to my local Suzuki dealer or an independent shop. I have two questions really: 1) Is this type of failure something that is generally covered by the factory warranty? 2) Any ideas as to what this failure may be? Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same problem when I got mine back from the shop after they adjusted the valves. I had the clean the carb like everyone esle said, put a $2 inline fuel filter and found the vent hose for the carb was pinched, the one that goes up but the intake. Fixed my problems.

Also check the fuel cap vent hose and make sure it isn't pluged. If it runs better with the choke on it is a lack of fuel problem. Pull the fuel line off of the carb and see if fuel flows good with the petcock on prime. Cut the line and install a fuel filter. Where the line hooks to the carb there is a small screen in the tube. Use a soft wire to clean it out. Crank the engine with the line unhooked and the petcock on run and see if fuel flows good. If you have good flow, hook the line back to the carb. On the bottom of the carb there is a screw to drain the float bowl. loosen that screw and see if fuel flows good from there. If not the carb needs to be cleaned.
