Default 1990 lt250s choke

I have a 1990 lt250s that I just rebuilt. It is not running too good. I tore the carburator apart and cleaned it well. The machine runs, but you have to leave it on half choke. It is not making the spark plug blacken up,but the choke should be all the way off. The carb has the normal choke on the left, and then on the other side of the carb is a pull out **** that also looks like it has to do with the choke. What is this. The choke won't go all the way up or down unless you take this **** out of the other side. But it is very clean in there. The whole top end of the motor is new.PLEASE HELP!!!!!! THANKS

try messing with the jets and the needle in the carb and if that doesn't work then try adjusting the float.

I have moved the needle up and down and no difference. The machine even at half choke just lacks power. If you get in the throttle hard it won't wind out. If you take it down the road, you can't wind it hard enough to blow it up,not that I'm trying. It will wind up,then start dying like it's starving for fuel. At idle in neutral,if you mat the throttle to the handlebars real fast it will die out and quit.

well no doubt about it that its the carb thats not a prob but my friend has the same prob with his recon and it seems like it won't run unless the choke is on and even then it boggs out I would just keep messing with the jets and needle and see if that helps it out any if someone else could help him with the carb chime in.

you got to adjust the carb. theres like a black idle sqrew on the carb. that i beleive is for a straight head sqrew driver and if you sqrew it in more, more gas will be going into your engine.

I have cleaned the carb again and messed with the needle up and down. The idle jet I have messed with from one and a half turns to two and a half turns like the suzuki dealer has told me to do with no avail. Still runs the same. Real doggy top end and don't like to idle. I still haven't figured out what the pull out **** on the right side of the carb is for. ON the left side is the choke. On the right side is a pull out ****. What is this ****. Thanks for any help.

Its a starter limiter. According to the service manual, during the summer months (above 40 deg) the limiter should be pushed in. During the winter months (below 40 deg) it should be pulled out to richen the mixture. Unfortunately it doesn't say what you do with it when the motor is running. Hope this helps.

thanks jmswat. I guess you just use the normal choke and the pull out choke during the winter when it's cold. Once you warm up the engine, you turn them both off. During the warmer months you don't,or shouldn't have to use the pull out choke. Thanks for the help jmswat and david lt250s.
