Help with 1996 LT250-T carb?
I recently got a 1996 LT250-T. It was not running when I bought it. It starts up imediately and dies just as quick. IT has good spark, clean air filter, new clean fuel. I disassembled and cleaned the carb twice. When I leave fuel petcock in the prime position, the quad will usually start and run at a high rpm for a few seconds, even revs with the throttle, but dies after a few seconds.
I could not suck air through the original petcock in the on or reserve position, only the prime position. After reading the petcock was the trouble for a few other folks with similar symptoms, I am now out $70 on a new petcock, but still have the same problem. I also can not suck air through the new petcock either, except in the prime position.
The carb was most likely disassembled before I got it. I have no idea how far off any other adjustments might be.
The bowl on the bottom of the carb did not seem to have much fuel in it when I took it off a few times. I bent the tabs so that the bowl seems to be about 1/2 full of fuel.
I ran a search of carb issues, but other than advice like cleaning the carb again, any good ideas on what to do.
Thanks in advance for the help.
