ltz50 quad no power
#501
I just bought my son a new TTR-110 last night. I have a feeling the LTZ50 is going to be on its way out soon. I am thinking he can enjoy it for a little while longer, then I might move him up to a Raptor 80 or possibly even the new Raptor 250, so my and I wife can drive it sometimes too.
I still have the CDI box that has not been used yet. I will probably put a couple of more trips on it and then sell the CDI box, I will post here first to see if there is any interest.

I bought my son the Can-Am DS90X thinking the ame thing as you. Unfortuneately, his thumb isn't strong enough for the throttle on the bigger bike so we decided to keep his LTZ50 for the remainder of this riding season. I may be switching the bigger biketo a twist throttle if he still has an issue next year.

hey lowlife, i can't tell exactly, but it kind of seems like it could be fuel.It only dies when we hit the muddy trails and I am on my quad up ahead.I think that it just falls on it's face. The problem seemed to start after i got the CDI from CTracing, but I also messed around with the carb before that and it is very touchy and hard to find a consistent tune for it.

I am also thinking about buying a new 90cc quad but Ican't imagine getting decent money back out of the LTZ50. It's a real friggin shame that thing is so dissapointing for power and especially reliability.I am hesitant to spend any more $$ on it cause i feel like i might as well be just burning it then.My kid however still likes his quad, but it doesn't run reliably when we are away from home.

Did you install an aftermarket air cleaner? You shouldn't need to re-jet for only a filter and CDI box.The carb is very sensitive but once dialed in it will run great. Try taking the carb apart again and adjusting the float hieght. Then you should only have to adjust the air/fuel mixture screw (the one closest to the air cleaner).

No after market filter yet, and I took the carb apart yesterday and Ican't adjust the setting on it.I thought i would be able to, but there are no pins to remove to reset it. It appears to me that it can only be adjusted by the air and the idle screws.

We took my sons quad out to our local riding spot today. WOW!
Before when I cruised the rode next to him on the YFZ450 I would be in the bottom of 3rd, now I was in the bottom of 4th and he was right there. Of course when I say the bottom, I mean lugging it to keep the R's down. Going down the hills he had to be doing 30+mph easily. I can tell it picked up ATLEAST 10mph over the stock CDI. There is also a man made track out at the spot we go to. There was a kid on an older 70cc Honda 4 speed and another one with an older 50cc Honda auto, my son was ripping them a new one. They had to pull off so he could pass, what a difference that little box that only took 2 minutes to replace made. I am thinking of removing the 3 rollers, cause it is missing that low end torque. I was thinking about dropping a filter in too, dont know if it will help enough to justify the cost? I know the exhaust is out of reach right now, I dont feel like dumping that kind of cash into this, when he will only be on it a short time longer. He is in love with it again though, what a difference.
