My son was racing his LT-80 this past Saturday and all of a sudden something broke big time, it was making the most God awful sound and the fans sitting around said that sounds expensive. I know it is going to require major surgery because the engine runs fine it's just that the 80 won't move, the chain did not break or come off and the sound is the loudest when the engine is revved. I looked in my repair manual I have for the LT-80 and for what I have to work on it is calling for 15 different " Special Tools ". My question is are these tools definitely required and can they be used on more than just the LT-80, if I do need them is there a place I can go where I won't need to take out a 2nd mortgage to buy them.

Thank you for any help

Welcome to the forums.
The casings crack in front of the front sprocket?
The only thing I use special is a battery powered impact wrench. You might as well invest in one. You'll need it time and time again. I'm thinking between $100-200 maybe for a good model.
The rest is simple end wrenches and sockets.

Put that book on the shelf. Ask me. LOL

Thank you LT80 Pro Rider, my son races Harescramble style and he did tell me that he did get hung up on a stump when another rider forced him off the track. I will check for that crack and can you tell me what I will be looking at for cost to repair the problem. My son has his last two races 6-2-07 and 6-9-07 which I don't think he will make but racing starts up again in August and I'm hoping he can make that.

Oh YEA!! Grinding is putting it kinda mild, now when you roll it there is a clicking/clacking sound, you know kind of like those Under Armour sports commercials on TV " CLICK/CLACK ". This isn't sounding to good is it??

Are you a mechanic or have a good mechanic? I would say if you split the cases you'll find its a gear
