Default Z400 Reverse Override?????

I did a google search for "suzuki z400 reverse rev limiter" and got many hits, probably the best was
"
Unplug the CDI connector
As you look at the connector with the lock at the top, take a small screwdriver slide it in above the pin you want to remove the pull the wire. you wont have to pull hard it should slide right out.

1) disconnect the black wire with the red trace and the blue wire with the black trace and put a piece of shrink tube over each one of them and put a dab of silicone in the holes they came out of.

2)pull out the black wire with the brown trace and the black wire with the white trace. Keep track of the hole they came out of. Make a small jumper wire (about 28 ga.) about 2 inches long, slide it under the rubber seal on the black/brown wire connector pin and solder it to the pin. Do the same to the other end of the jumper and solder it to the black/white wire connector pin. Now put these two pins back in there respective holes. put a dab of silicone between the jumper wire and the wire next to it.

I had some troubles following the directions at frist but just take your time and you will be able to figure it out."
and then theres this one
"Another way to defeat the reverse rev limiter is by disconnecting the Red wire from the Neutral Indicator Switch. You can simply cut it, separating the wire (I haven't tested this one myself yet, but it works).

The Neutral Indicator Switch is the white, quarter-sized sensor located directly underneath your shift lever. It's got four wires coming out of it - Red, White, Blue, and Black wires. Chop the Red one. No more rev limiter. The downside to this is that your Reverse Indicator Lamp on the dash will no longer work, either."
What year is the z400?

Are you 100% sure cutting the red wire will work. I have an 05 ltz 400 and the starter button isn't working and cause the reverse light is on when I turn it on. So will cutting the red wire make it stop thinking I'm in reverse so I can start it?
