Is all of the shifter linkage still connected? Maybe try adjusting the linkage. Does it not shift with the bike running, while moving, we need a tad more info.

I am having the same issue with my 2004 Suzuki Eiger 4x4. Won't shift out of second gear with it running or not, moving or not. Originally Posted by rolsmojave3

Check the Hi/Lo/reverse lever hasn't got fouled up, and the link from pedal to gearbox, but I would guess at a selector mechanism problem inside the gearboxes, very complex, and the 5 speed is in the clutch side, and the hi/lo reverse in the alternator side, but both are linked.
