How does the airfilter look? The metal screen is not the airfilter, btw. Is the airbox lid on? Is the airbox tightly clamped to the carb?

well we took off the pice that goes from the box to the carb to spray starter fulid in to get it to start(it was lose all ready)it started for like 5 secondes and then shut off.it back fired the hole time it ran.i craned the carb out.then tryed it agon.still nothing.i hoked the air filter up.it was geting hard to star(it dint want to start up)so i have up.i looked at the spark plug and it is still good..but you know were the middle of the frame coneects to the air filter box?well that is not connected.it ls on it but 1/4 of it is off.but it should still start with it like at..and with the aill fliter off.

Its too lean without the air filter. It needs the foam filter for it to run. All the connections need to be tight too.

Yeah, its too lean. Try the choke too until it warms up a little.
