Can you jump start a quad with a car???
#11
I have always wondered about jumping from a car to a quad/dirtbike. Ive done it a bunch of times, always with the car/trucks engine off. Always heard it wasnt the safest thing to do, but havnt had a problem....yet

Well sence you all seem to be electrical experts, then you should be working for NASA!</end quote></div>
We would go to work for NASA but we don't want them to fire you so we will just stay at our regular jobs until you retire

Well, just for everyones info, when I did decide to jump it, I hadn't read all the info about not having the car running yet...So, needless to say I ran the car engine while I started the quad, even let it run for about two minutes that way. Well,........I am sure your right about the possiblity of frying your wiring harness doing that, but, it actually helped me out in this situation. Don't know why, but my quad starts up faster than ever now on it's own ever since I jumped it. Weird, guess it just charged up my battery where it was supposed to be the whole time. LOL. But next time, will do it without the car running. Whoops, got lucky I guess.

If the car is running there is a slight chance the battery will blow up. I had a battery in a tractor blow up and the debries broke a window. So best not to leave car running.</end quote></div>
well that had to suck. My grandpa had one blow up in his face, now he has coke bottles for glasses.
