I've been thinking of buying a new 4-wheeler. My local dealer has a brand new 2006 ltz400 sport quad for sale. Msrp on the tag says $5,899. They offered me this quad for $4200 + $380 Freight and set up fee. Is $4580 a good deal for a model that is new but 2 years old? They said it would come with the 1 year factory warranty. My other option is looking at buying a 2007 yamaha wolverine brand new for $4,700. Any advice, input, stories of what others paid in a similar situation? Thanks for any input.

I looked up the value on NADA and 2006 Quad Sport Z400 new = $5,899.00. Used average for DR-Z400 = $3620. either way when you drive it off the lot you lose major value. Offer him $4,000. and see if he takes it. No dealer wants to see $4,000. walk out the door.
Hope this helps out

That is a great deal..... take it...... with the new 2009 hitting floors I'm sure dealers all over will be shipping out leftover z400s for killer priced. If you can get it for $4000 great, but I would not be worried about paying $4500 either, that is still an excellent deal...
BTW (this is in reference to the above post) the z400 is an LT-Z, the DR-Z is actually a dual-sport bike..... I don't know why but a lot of times on official listings they get mixed up.

4600 for a new Z, I'd go for it. I do wonder about the Wolverine though. If you are looking dor a trail blaster that can jump, slide, wheelie, etc, than the Z is your huckleberry. Wolverines are going to be a tamer ride but more capable in the mud and nasty. They are really two different riding styles.
