LT80 recoil starter
#1
Well, my "son's" (ahem) Lt80 was having a hard time starting due to some electical issues. The battery was not holding a charge and I couldn't get the bike started. I ordered a battery from bikebandit.com, but am still waiting for it to get shipped to me. I also orded the optional recoil starter kit. It arrived today and took more time to open the packaging than to install it. Four bolts removed the stock cover, I peeled off the gasket (new one is NOT provided) and bolted on the recoil starter.
It's a nifty little deal, as the pull handle is actually pressed over a flanged tube so it will seal out water. Gave the handle a couple of quick yanks and she fired right up.
This unit is nice and I wish they would just include in stock with the bikes back when they were made. It was about 114 bucks after shipping, which is Waaaaay pricey, and the actual teeth are made of plastic. I hope it holds up, but in the meantime, it's nice to have the wheelie machine back in action!

They are handy to have. I have two LT80s and one pull starter. If I have a battery issue I just put it on which ever unit needs it. You got hosed on the price though. $68 plus shipping. http://www.motorsportssupercenter.com I get all my LT80 parts from them, best prices I have found.

Thanks, I'll have to check them out. I've gone through Motosport, DennisKirk, rocky Mountain Atv, bike bandit, and a couple others. I should try these guys next. I'd like to get some better suspension too, but may have to just go through a custom suspension supplier like works, axis, etc. I love this little bike!

Works is the only ones that I'd get. PEP is the only other I know of making a set of shocks for the LT's but $$$$...
Beware of the ebay specials!
The plastic gears seem to hold up well.
