You really should take it apart like this:
This is what you don't want to see:
If you're not willing to take it apart further, just be careful not to wash dirt down the valve stem when using the brake cleaner.

timing on a lt230s..??
well i got the engine all together last night.... tonight if i have time im going to put some fresh gas and a plug in and see what happens......thanks for the help.. wouldnt happen to have any numbers for spark plugs for this thing?
