LT230 Extended A-Arm Project

That's nice that yours will be adjustable. With my 250S arms, it gave me quite a bit of positive camber. This weekend when I had the upper mount bolts out, I used the floor jack to see how much I could correct it be raising the upper mounts, and it helped a little, but it was still evident. Someday I'll look into getting it adjusted somehow.

oh man, i hate that positive camber crap! my 86 lt250r has lots of it and i cant stand to look at the front end lol!
however, it handles GREAT, in fact, it feels far better than even a stock yfz450 for woods riding.

Camber like that is no good. Your tires will roll over easier and might even come off the rim.

Its a simple fix though.... Just bend the top arm and it will pull the top of the tire to a vertical position. I had the same problem and that's what I did. Not only does that fix the problem, but there's less stress on the ball joint since the angle is less.

It would make the steering seem lighter. That might be what you're noticing.

I've been welding with fluxcore since 1991 or 2. Never had a problem except my tierods that broke. But I don't think that is due to the flux as much as it was hardened by the heat and cracked. Tierods need to be springy (apparently).

atvman - hey thanks alot man.
justrandy (cuz im sure hes gonna be around here soon lol) - as far as camber goes, did you extend the upper and lower a-arms the exact same amout, or did you try to go for a more racy setup with the uppers being just slightly shorter. also, will the added length in general affect the camber? what about as the suspension goes thru its stroke?

Since I lowered the backend and raised the front end, my caster was SCREWED! So,,, I had to cut the balljoint mounts off and weld them forward some. I forgot how much, but something like an inch. It helped, but the steering is still a bit heavy. But ok for me, I need the arm workout every now n then.
The camber shouldn't change as the suspension goes thru its stroke. If it did, that would present stability problems on the trail... Much like my single a-arm bayou does. Its a death trap.

Hey guys, could there be any way I could lengthen my lower ball joint, or somehow move it out? Maybe a ball joint from a different vehicle could be longer? Maybe that would create too much of a moment though. Could I shorten the upper one you suppose?
I wish I was at home with my wheeler so I could go out and examine it myself.
