bunch of lt80 questions
#1
I recently picked up an 04 LT80 and have a few questions. It seems to run pretty good, but definetly has more punch off the line when the engine is cold. After a couple of minutes the punch goes away, but still runs good. Once it warms up it wants to roll away when you're stopped. Idle too high maybe? I don't have an owners manual so I can't look in there for help. Which plugs seem to work the best? Same with oil? What are clutch rollers? Same with reeds? I've read about draining the muffler or something. Are there any things I need to know or look out for with this quad? My 7 year old loves it so far. I'm a car guy, so I've got no problems turning a wrench. I just don't have experience with ATV's or small engines. Thanks, Trevor

I'd do a compression test just to see where it's at.
Could be too high of idle, turn the idle screw down a lil.
Stock plug:NGK BRP7HS
Oil: any synthetic that's approved for oil injection
Rollers: these are the weights that push on the clutchs to make it move. You'll need to learn how to maintenence the clutchs.
Reed: It's a steel (stock) or fiber (mine) "valve" so to speak. It opens on the intake stroke to pull fuel mix into the motor.Your reed is prolly fine.
The pipe should be fine.
