Default LT80 feels like the choke is on at full throttle

OK heres the deal. I have an 88 LT80 that has ran fine for years. now this spring it started to spudder at full throttle. I have cleaned the carb several times with carb cleaner, solvent tank, air compressor blown through all the jets to make sure they were clean. and I also replaced all the jets with new ones. I have rebuilt the top end, cleaned out and made sure the exaust was clean and nothing is restricking it. new plug, I tore the flywheel off and made sure it was all clean and making good contact. and replaced the reeds. Pretty much at my wits end. everything improved it just a little but it still feels like the choke is on at high rpm. what am I missing????

What octane gas you running? Gas sure is crap these days IMO.
Possible CDI/coil issue.

Its not the gas as it is new gas and high octane. but maybe the CDI is the next step. Thanks

I see your going to try the CDI. Could be it.
Please let us know how it works out.

Default wow what else could it be??

well it isn't that either.... I thought it would be when I took the old one off and saw that the thing that grips the spark plug on it was messed up to the point that it probably wasn't holding to the spark plug very tight. I put the new one on and same-o same-o. I am just mystified! any other ideas?

When something like this goes on, I like to run a extra ground from the frame to motor.
It's one of those "just to be sure" things.
I'm wondering if the carb is no good.
You used stock size jets?
You've tried adjusting the carb slide needle up and down?
What's the compression on your new top end?

well I just put another carb from that one I bought for 100 bucks on it and now I am about to go run it and see if that works. I will try the ground cable and see iff that helps also. thanks for all the help.

Default Carb!

I put on another carb and whal-ah it works like a charm. Now what was it I heard on here about boiling your carb... do ya think that would make the other carb work? This one I put on it came off that one I bought for $100. and the gut that owned it has broken the oil injector part off of the carb. so I emptied the gas and put mix in it to test it. well I would really like to use the origional carb if I can get it to work. what do ya think?
