I have an 03 Vinson that I'm taking to 11,000 ft. elk hunting. What do I need to do to compensate for that altitude?

 

Adjust the main jet down 1 size for every 1000ft you are going up. I ride in Colorado, I have had my carbed quad up 13,800 ft above sea level.

 

Thanks. Colorado is where I'm heading. Is it as simple as pulling the jets out and replacing them?

 

On my quad, I take the drain bolt off the bottom of the carb's bowl. Then use a 6mm deep socket straight up through the bowl to grab the jet. As long as your carb is dialed in for what you got changing the main should be all you need to do. Be careful when putting the new jet in, I have turned it too hard and broke the jet. It was simple fix of replacing the needle jet holder. You may need to loosen the clamps on both sides of the carb so you can rotate it a little.
