87 and 88 lt230s shifters won't return
#1
hey everybody! i'm new to the site and just looking for a helping hand, i have 2 lt 230s's and i recently got them back from a shop where i got the motors rebuilt, pistons, cranks, valves, the whole nine. So i get the bikes back and the shifters won't return, it's almost like the springs are missing from the shift forks? is there anything else that would cause them to do this, and also if the springs are missing or installed incorrectly will the cases have to be split again in order to correct this problem? any help will be appreciated! Thanks...........j_daddy_o

I'd take it back to the shop and tell them to fix it. They were in there and obviously got something wrong on both of them, so let them fix it on their time and dollar. Does it shift at all, or just once and then stay stuck in gear?

it shifts through all the gears, there is just no spring action, instead it is all free play so like when you kick it down into first, it stays down and when you try to grab second it is still way down and you have to hunt for it. I am going to take it back to the shop and make them fix it i was just curiuos if my hunch was right and they left out the shift fork spring???? or if anything else would cause that????
