Hello all, I'm brand new here.

My 86 Suzuki 230 ATV (shaft drive, automatic clutch, reverse) conked out on me the other day while I was trying to get it into reverse. It had been going into reverse hard for awhile, almost like "knocking" when it engaged, and the wheels would spin a little. Then one day it knocked while trying to get it into reverse and sounded like something broke or something. Now it won't go into reverse or any forward gears and seems to grind a little like something's not quite catching.

I took off the clutch cover and stuff today but I don't see anything broken. I don't where to go from here. Could someone point me in the right direction please? This little ATV is a workhorse around my place, but it's old and I'm not sure if I want to spend the money to take it to a shop where they'll probably kill me on labor.

Any help appreciated.

 

my friend had the same problem and his was pull start and above it was a big bolt and he took it off and filled it with heavy duty gear lube and it done the job hope it works for you
