Default Odd size tyre on quadrunner

Hello,
I have just bought my first quad, a 1986 or 87 quadrunner 250 4x4.
Wheels are 4 bolt, tyre sizes fitted are 22x8x10 Front and 25x13.5x10 Rear.

From what I can find on internet sites the rears should be 24 inch, and I need new rear rims and obviously want to make sure the front to rear ratio is correct so as not to screw up the transfer case.

Could the rear end ratio have been changed to suit this change in tyre size and is there a way of checking wheel rotations with it up in the air ?

Any help greatly appreciated.

I do not know of any other gears other than stock.
I had a 88 Zuk 4x4. I do remember that the tire sizes were,,unusuall.

I am going by the list below, which shows a 24 inch for the rear but I don't have a manual or anything to check this info.

Any way to check the wheel rotations acurately?

I have a 1988, and the rear tire is a 25 x 12.00-10. This is from the owners manual. Your VIN has a date code to determine atv year.

That's encouraging, thanks very much. I'll go and have another look for the VIN and also buy a Clymer book.

I'll probably get tubes put in the rears due to some pinhole leaks through the rims, if I nees to get new rims are they available aftermarket ?

Thanks

The VIN is in the rear, near the muffler. Here are a couple of VIN decoders:

I don't know about the wheels, maybe someone parting one out. Maybe EBAY...

Both the Quadrunner 250 and the King Quad 300 run a smaller front tire than the rear. While they are geared for this size difference, I know lots of KQ owners who run the same size tire on the front and back. The only time scrubbing would be an issue would be if you are in 4wd on hardpack, and then only if you are turning. Most of the time the change in tire size is not noticeable at all.

So, the front tires and the rear tires are the same circumference, and the front tires are rotating faster than the rear tires. It seems to me that they would scrub any time you were in 4WD. What am I missing?

Yes, if the front wheel rotates 1.1363 times for each rear wheel rotation, then it's geared for 25's. If the front wheel rotates 1.0909 times, then it's geared for 24's. After 10 revolutions the difference would be 11.363 to 10.909, almost half a revolution.

Thanks very much for the replies.

Found the VIN now, cheers Kenm.
It comes back as a 1987, I'm hoping the CLymer book will tell me what I need to know from there.
It has 2wd, 4wd and diff lock so if the diff lock is off but it is in 4wd I suppose a slight difference in front to rear gearing is OK, assuming the transfer case is an open type diff and not a viscous clutch type design.
I'll get the tubes fitted and go play.

Next will be the driveshafts (three out of 4 cv boots are split and the rear shafts are sloppy where they go into the diff) bit one step at a time.
