Should i get it? - 86 LT230 for $900

if you found a 230s for 500 that only smokes when its running, i would buy it. but i would check the swingarm bearings back axle bearings and front a arm ball joints as these are the most expensive to replace. but if you build the engine yourself you can do it and have 200 at the most in it. thats if it needs bored and a new piston bought. but as far as all the stuff to check it applies to all quads. hope this helps

yeah that wouldn't really work lol. i guess i will keep looking for one, hopefully some more 230's will pop up.

NewportHillClimber: i guess you are right, i may go look at it sometime. what should i look for in the a arm ball joints? i have never seen good ones so i would not know if they are bad or not lol

grab the front wheel and pull on them like checking the wheel bearings and if the ball joints move side to side they are no good. a little movement and they may last for a while still but you dont wanna ride too long with bad ones cuz they will release and your wheels will flop outwards. i had to learn it the hard way. mine flopped out when i jumped a jump and i landed right on the frame
