well sunday i went out ridin on my suzuki eiger 400 4x4 and i was goin across a pond when the snorkle pipe came outta the airbox an caused it to flood out. we pulled it out stood it up on the back rack to let the water drain out then pulled the drain plug on the air box. it still wouldnt start so i pulled it home. i have drained the oil, changed the plug and drained the bowl on the bottom of the carb an it still wont start. it has fire and ood compression.. what should i try

i'd flush the tank, i know methanol will leach on to the water, but unsure what it will do to the engine, i presume the motor would be robust enough like a car/pickup, make sure the carb is clean and getting fuel through the jets. pull the spark plug, crank it over a few times to make sure cylinder is clean, reinstall plug. i've read where people sank the quad, cleaned the carb, dropped all water, started it up, ran for ~1 minute, killed it, changed oil. 3X, and was fine after that. that's about all i know to do. but i'm just a shadetree guy. not a professional. the pros will weigh in on this one!

I have an older Yamaha with the same problem. Cleaned carb, drained fuel & oil, checked valves and timing. Still won't start only backfire. The parts guy at the local Suzuki shop who is also a good mechanic told Me that The guys in the shop will rope start and electric start at the same time. He said the compression is low and it needs to spin faster to start and if you can get it started it will blow the trash from the rings and should be fine. He said to try pulling the atv behind a truck if it is manual shift. I haven't had time to try it yet.

This is why we are recommending a good carb cleaning which includes removing both jets and cleaning all well, making double sure the jet holes are open.
You may indeed have done that, it just didn't say so.
I'd also be wiping out all the intake ducting. Could have dirt there now.
