lt80 rings replacement problem!!new user
Hello,
I am new to the forum.
I just purchased a lt80..I am rebuilding the clutch...engine top end etc......
I just got new rings...I am having issues getting the cylinder to slide over the bottom ring...the one that has the thin metal spacer that goes on first..then the ring goes on over it....
I have the rings lined up with the pins etc.....the cylinder slides down over the first piston ring fine.....I get to the second piston ring and it hangs.... it is really hard to get it flush. What is the trick to getting it down over the last ring???and what is that thin skinny piece of metal for that goes on first before you put on the new ring.....
Please help.....This is holding me up on getting this thing put back together this weekend....I did have the cylinder honed out as well.....

Welcome to the forums.
Honed:: did you have the clearance checked (piston to wall)?
I don't remember why Zuki put that lil thin ring in there.
Was that lil ring behind the lower ring when you disassembled?
As far as why it isn't going on, is the gap on that lil thin ring over the pin? Ring upside down?
Arrow toward exhaust.

Problem solver!! The rings where upside down..that little "T" on the rings is hard to see! Amazing how quickly the piston slid in with the rings iin the right orientation.....
Oh well, thats how you learn, from you own mistakes or someone elses.
The little thin piece of metal goes on before you put on the lower ring
Thanks
OH, it does run 100 percent better...not nearly as much smoke at idle now.
Thanks
