I would go with it being the 250s, at least that's what the seat is from. Otherwise check the rear shock, if it has a reservoir on it its a 250s (it think I see one there), if there is no res, it's a 230s chassis. The 250s is an update to the 230s and many parts can interchange, it just never seems to be the ones i need (plastics are a problem for the 250s).
As far as the tank I use to have a 230 with a honda rebel engine in it. I had an issue with the tank not fitting on correct (having to use spacers to get it to mount). The best way to get a proper and stock looking fit is to use a heat gun and slowly heat and reform the tank to fit the engine. Don't go to fast or use too much pressure or you will either destroy the tank or make it too thin in places. Putting a heat shield on the bottom would be a good idea if the engine gets hot on top or the pipe is run close. The 230 and 250s tanks are the same and they are all over and cheep.
good luck with her.

I'm not sure about my vin, the sticker is all torn up on the front right..

So far i've replaced the carb boots, cleaned the carbs up, cleaned the rear harness up some and got my old arcticcat battery charged up. Tuesday my gas tank comes in the mail (eBay $9.99)

My next steps are to weld up another mount for the engine and finish up the exhaust. The engine is currently only mounted in the rear so I feel like having another mount up front is very necessary.

As far as the exhaust goes, I think my cheapest option is going to the local pull-a-part and cutting the exhaust off a geo or something. I really want something much quieter than the typical street chopper exhaust which is all I can find online for this engine. Not to mention everything I can find online is hundreds of dollers whereas a muffler at the junkyard is $11. The header pipes are 1.25" each which i'm having trouble finding as well.. Maybe I can move it up to 1.5" if it'll fit where I plan to snake alongside the engine & frame...

Will post pics once finished

Got my tank in the mail today, this thing is huge !! Do you have any advice as far as heating up the tank and getting it to fit? I am definitely going to make a heat shield but I would really like to keep from using spacers. This whole next week is supposed to be rain so I should have plenty of time to get everything nice and pretty. I was even thinking about taking the whole quad apart and repainting every thing
