Default LT80 Breather problem

Hi i'm having alot of problems with an lt80 i brought for my kids, i've rebuilt the carb and had it rebored to 1.50 with new piston and rings sounds very familiar but it boggs at 1/2 throttle until i take the air bleed hose off of the right hand side of the carb and cover the hole and then it flies with no bogging i've fitted new gaskets am i sucking in to much air from carb still as this was one of my problems after doing the new jets ect (all standard size) or the barrel maybe any help please this is doing my head right in and it was only supposed to be a quick service and clean up

Did you remove the black thang that goes around the jets and connects to the fuel bowl?
I've seen that get crushed and cause problems.
I throw that away.

OK..
Covering the vent will make it pull more fuel thru the jet...Or so I'm thinking now. Something is making it want more fuel.
I don't believe that boring 1.5 makes any difference.
I'm thinking that there could be a air leak between the carb and reed cage.
Maybe even a cracked reed.
The insulator (black plastic) is not cracked and o-ring is in place?
Does it act that same when the petcock is in run or prime position?
I forget what we've talked about in the past. Sorry if I'm asking questions twice.

Hi lt does run the same no matter where the petcock is, took carb off and o-ring was in place and in tact but have put some sealant on both sides of the black plastic spacer thing but no cracks ect could be seen when the piston was being done i had a look at the reeds and LOOKED in good shape ie no obvious splits or bends and i just done a comp test as i figured if it was to do with the head leaking it would show up (would this be right?) but that is reading 135 so no problem there with wait till tomorrow for sealant to dry and see what happens and go from there.

well i took it out today with the insulator sealed and there was no difference in terms of the bogging what i have noticed is that if i fold the bleed pipe to stop the air flow from it it runs great at high rpm but it wont tick over for more than a minute at most and you have to un-kink the pipe to allow air flow again before it will starti have a nasty feeling your going to say "sort the reeds" if so how the heck do you get to use a compact driver in there.

How removing the fuel line from the carb and running it into a container. Try it on prime.. sorta sounds like the cap vent may be plugged...
FYI: the reed cage bolts are a #3 phillips. I have one that fits in a socket/ratchet. They come off rather easy that way.

Sorry i've not got back sooner but i've been up to my eyes in it the last few days and haven't had 2 minutes.
Well i done what you said there wasn't a pipe on the cap so i fitted one and sprayed carb cleaner through it and it popped out the other end after a bit of squirt and now starts on the button with no choke and runs blinding.
SO A BIG BIG THANK YOU LT80 ALL YOUR HELP WAS MUCH APPRECIATED.
