Default 2004 Eiger Front Axle.

Hey all,

I'm new here. Hopefully you can help me out.

I was using my ATV the other day and the 4WD quit working. While looking into the problem, I discovered that one of the front axles is pulled out of the differential about 1 to 1.5 inches. It was using it in snow and none of the oil appears to have come out of the differential. From what I can see from the parts manuals I've been able to look at, it appears that I might be okay if I just shove the axle back in. Does that make sense?

Hope to hear from someone who can help me out.

Should just shove back in ,only a snap ring holds it in place,at worst you may need to buy a new snap ring and clean and lube the spline of the axle and the hole it slips into of the front diff.

Thanks for the reply. Can that be done without any disassembly or am I going to have to unhook the axle, etc from the suspension to do it.

So far it looks really clean. So I'm thinking I won't need to clean/grease.

There are many vids on you tube, here one of many.

Only thing is you will be shoving it in ,not pulling it out. Does not matter about which ATV it is there all the same when removing/installing a axle.

You have to take it apart to see why the axle slip out in the first place. Also to clean up the spline and check the snap rings condition.
