increase idle speed??
#1
how do I increase idle speed on my 2005 king quad 700? it should be around 1300 rpm, just enough to make it 'bump' when you place it in gear. mine just sits there until I depress throttle some. then it goes fine. but, it is still too low when you release throttle. Help, please. tks to all.

Read it in service manual. Said 1300 +/- 100.suposed to just barely move when u put in gear.

If it is fuel injected, the idle is usually ECM controlled, but there mayb be an adjustment for the TPS ( throttle position sensor). I would leave an adjustment like that to a dealership or shop, unless you can find specific instructions on how to do it, maybe try googling it?
on that note, I did, and found there is an ISC ( idle speed control)and found this:
You can try resetting the ISC, this came from a Suzuki/Arctic Cat mechanic from my dealer.
I was able to greatly improve my engine starts by first making sure the TPS was set correctly and then recalibrating the Idle speed control motor. To do this is really simple. You must first connect the wire under the seat to put the atv in diagnostic mode. Then with the key off press the throttle wide open and hold it, turn the key on wait at least 10 to 15 seconds, turn the key off, then you can release the throttle. That's all you have to do to recalibrate the I speed control motor. This must be done anytime you adjust your TPS, and I would do it anytime you disconnect your battery. This was a tech tip that I got right from Arctic Cat!!" He was working on a Suzuki motor. "
Few other ideas listed there also. I would definately check your TPS setting. Tech tips tell you how to do that and how to get into diagnostic mode with a simple wire jump.

Hello I have a 2010 750 King quad that is giving me some starting issues when warm or hot it starts good cold but when starting hot or warm I have to give it a little bit of throttle for it to start. There is no codes and TPS is sitting at -COO Have put a new fuel pump spark plug and air filter in still the same. Have installed a new coolant sensor and air temp sensor and have tested the idle air control and it tests at 28 ohms(manual says it should be 31ohms). If I turn the screw on throttle cable at the throttle it will idle higher and start good but hard to get into gear without noise. Hoping for some help

What is the problem? If you know you need a bit of throttle to start when hot, you give it a bit. With carbed quads, almost all need throttle when starting, OK, if you do that with an EFI they usually refuse to start, but if yours likes a bit of throttle for hot starts, so be it.This is part of knowing your particular machine. Do not fiddle with that throttle cable adjuster, you may well end up with it accelerating all by itself as you go round bends. Adjust it back so there is some slack in the lever before it starts to open the throttle.
