Yes but if you haven't been into the clutchs, that should be first.

Sorry, it's me, but I don't understand what you mean here?

The LT80 uses clutches much like a snowmobile...there is a primary and secondary clutch under the clutch cover located on the left side of the motor. If these clutches haven't been serviced for some time they can cause the conditions you're experiencing as they transmit the power from the engine to the ground. If they are not shifting out properly then the machine will feel sluggish even if the motor is 100%.

There are a couple youtube vids that can get you started...

OK so how do you do that? Check the clutches?

Update:

Need to backtrack. We are still having starting problems. It's taking a long time to start it, whether the choke is out, or in. When it does start, I'm having to give it the gas and it's sputtering, then it will finally start to idle normally.

My son rode it for awhile tonight, and it was going normal, then all of a sudden, it dies. Then he has problems starting.

Are you thinking this could still be a petcock thing?

Sounds like the float is sticking and fuel is leaking into motor.

OK the float is that two white plastic looking things right? There was like a rubber boot that was over the holes where the jet screws were. It looked like it might interfere. Can I remove that and leave it off?

Update:

Tonight removed the rubber thing inside near the float. Last night I was able to start it, but when I would give it the gas, seemed like it took awhile for it to kick in and actually start rolling.

Tonight, I cannot even get it to start. Every once in awhile I would hit the starter and here a "ching", and now it's doing it more often than not. It has been sitting awhile, so I took battery out and checked it, and it's low. I got it on the charger now.

Any other ideas of what may be wrong, and how to check/repair? This was my son's early birthday present, and well, he hasn't been able to ride it in awhile.
