Ltf230 cdi
#13
No thanks to Domi1983, who is a f"""""g thief, I got the bike running. I used an AC powered GY6 chinese CDI made for their larger bikes. I bought the wire harness for it and the CDI for a whopping $18 on Amazon. I cut one end of the new harness off, then cut the harness off of the old CDI so as to maintain the original harness on the bike in case I need to put an OEM CDI back in it. Following the pinout of the GY6 CDI and the wiring diagram for the bike, I soldered and heat shrinked all my connections. For those who are unsure of what to do with the extra stator wire, pickup coil wire, and ignition coil wire, the GY6 CDI has 2 ground pins. I brought those 3 wires to one ground pin and ran 1 wire from the other ground pin to the negative terminal on the battery (I couldn't get the original ground wire off so I left it hanging). It was really easy and works fine, but I'm a little iffy on the timing curve of the GY6 CDI. It doesn't seem to make a lot of power in higher gears, but that doesn't matter to me, since it will see light farm use from now on. I hope this helps anyone else considering this option for obsolete parts but aren't willing to shell out big bucks for a used CDI.
