Default LTZ400 idling issue

Bought a 2005 ltz400 and no problems. Recently, I have to keep the choke on slightly or else it stalls when I gear down from 4th or 5th. And then after having to keep the choke on for a while the engine starts revving really high, switch the choke off and it dies. I'm think dirty carb (?)..

My daughter is a 11 time ATV National champion. She changed her own motors, everything. If you can get the carb off , you surely can do the rest.
We'll help.
