I did the compression test and its 120 psi. took about 6-8 cranks to get to full pressure. I am a noob at comp test so just
giving info to make sure its a correct report
so that means no need to take the head off?
does that also mean I should return the new reeds ?
I will assume then the reason I was having starting issues were the crank seals.
thanks again for your time.
cheers

Comp is very good. No reason to get into the cylinder IMO.
Reeds have nothing to do with the comp. You can use them, or not.
Bon fire is fine. Wood stove, charcoal, whatever can get it red hot. Then blow compressed air thru. CAREFUL it'll throw flames.
Ha too funny. I was just coming back here to ask if the boysen reeds are an improvement on the metal ones or if I should send them back !
But yes I will use the ones I just bought.
And yes I did complete with throttle wide open
......I’m pretty sure
ill double check it again :!
thanks

Hey LT, and all you other helpful and learned folks.
I am reassembling the front clutch. And have gone through the past threads on the topic but still am not convinced this assembly is properly set.
My issue is I can’t belieb be the little amount of key that is contacting the front clutch face to apply all that torque when the bike is under load !
Also the belt bushing seems to be pushed in to far making the washer run directly on the belt. Which I’ve seen others post about before.
I almost feel as tho the crank shaft needs to be shifted towards the clutch side ! (Prob not the case tho as it is set in place.) or the flywheel is not setting back far enough maybe
take a look at these pics and let me know your thoughts.
heres Crank and key...looks fine to me
Crank and key
add flywheel, looks like key is barely enough to grab clutch face to me. It still does mind you but ... Flywheel added
showing clutch face Front clutch face
added clutch to crankshaft and all ok except shy key Clutch on crank shaft
slide bushing onto crankshaft through front clutch ...still seems ok Bushing added
add washer and now things get sketchy. not enough room for belt on bushing. Washer post bushing
Belt riding on top of washer (belt I removed had groove in it from washer) Belt riding on top of washer
fully assembled . I believe that the whole assembly needs to shift towards crankcase. Assembly complete but ...
Just thought Id ask since seems like lots of people have knowledge to share.
thanks in advance for you time folks.
cheers,
T
