Default Relay Click No Start

My 2001 Arctic Cat 300 (Suzuki Engine & Drive Train) will click when I hit the starter but there does not seem to be any load to the starter motor. The lights will not dim and there is no noise at all from the starter. Hooked up a starter battery just in case but no change. Is this common and is there something easy I can check before tearing things apart. Engine runs on pull start by the way. This occurred suddenly.

If the solenoid clicks you have either a faulty starter motor or faulty solenoid. Best way to check which is to put a 12v test lamp between cable from solenoid to starter, and earth, if the lamp lights when solenoid clicks, faulty starter, if it doesn't light, faulty solenoid. Faulty starters are usually caused by worn brushes, fairly easy to check, and cheap to replace them. None genuine replacement starters are often much lower quality, so worth saving the original if you can.

Traced it to the starter. Giving it a rap makes it start. Starter is way down there. I'm going to have the dealer repair it.

Thanks
