Any Problems With The Quadmaster 50??
#1
I'm thinking of buying either an 02' Quadmaster 50 or a Scrampler 50 for my grandson, age 6. Anyone out there know anything about the Quadmaster? Any problems with them? Are they reliable? What's a fair price for one? I've always owned polaris but I read that the seat height is 4" lower on the the Quadmaster 50 compared to the scrampler 50. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

VeryPicky,
I've been looking for two Quadmaster 50s for my kids. In general, I've seen pricing from $1699-$1899. (Which is actually lower priced than most of the other 50ccs I've seen.) I do like the looks of the Bombardier 50 (but have been given the line by competitive dealers that the Bombardier is just another "off-shore" machine that has an engine "like a chainsaw".)
I've also been told that the 50ccs have a tendency to be pretty gutless and have been told to strongly consider a Quadsport 80, or some other 90 cc.
My little guy is 4 (but he's pretty comfortable driving his grandpa's 300cc (in first gear). My daughter is 5 1/2 but is taller than most 7 year olds. She easily passes the seat height clearance on the 80 cc but her hands can't reach the breaks and the thumb throttle at the same time... (which is another red flag).
If you do a general "google" search on Youth Quads, there is no shortage of info you'll find. All in all, most people I've talked to seem to really like the Quadmaster 50. Full floor boards, good hand-sized grips/throttle/break etc. seem ideal for the little guys/gals. The Quadmaster 50 is also one of the coolest looking 50s out there.
I posted a question awhile back in regards to rebates on the 50s, and was told that there was a $200 rebate on parts etc, but that has supposedly now expired.
Not sure how much I've helped, but you're not alone in your search... Good luck.
