z400 speed

well i've ran my z with a stock raptor and 400 ex and out ran the honda easily but the raptor was another story! so being the deputydog that i am i broke out the handy-dandy radar gun! the stock honda run's 67 mph ( with 125 lb or 300 lb rider on asphalt)the z 400 ran 70 mph and the raptor ran 78 mph. i would like to thank that the z would out run the flagship yamaha but that's not the case. note: sence that day i've installed a set of racing cam's and a header pipe with a jet kit . after the retest i will let you know the outcome.
ps. the 36 mm carb. on the z is to small for the z after the cams and pipe. i but a 165 jet in the carb and the pipe became transparent red! so i took the jet and drilled it out . some were around 190 maby 200 and back the air/fuel out to 1.5 . throw the air cover lid away ,with it on the z falls on it's face!

well the cams and pipe did not improve the z's top speed but the start and mid range went throught the roof! half way down the quarter mile the z is at top speed. so for higher top end it looks like new sprockets are next to buy. i ran another honda 400 with a sparks 416 kit on it( as well as some other goodies on it)and lost by a two bike lead. the sparks honda ran 72 to 73 mph . so i can't wait two see what the z is going to do after the 440 kit is installed.
ps. the sparks honda was no match for the raptor running at 78 mph.
