I just bought an older Suzuki, it is a four stroke, kick start, sport type bike. Can anyone tell me what year model and which one it is from the serial #. I think it is a 250 Quadsport but I'm not sure. The serial # is "JSAAJ43A8G2109330". At least I think that is it, it is stamped on the bottom of the frame on the left side. Any help would be appreciated, maybe someone knows a web site to check serial #'s.

I think the quadracers are 2 stroke, the quadrunners and quadsports were 4 stroke. It does not have any of the stickers on the plastic, probably aftermarket plastic because it is red.

The plastic is red, I know the back fenders are after market and the front probably are too. Did the 85 LT230's not have electric start?

It sounds like a LT230S Quadsport. It should have the cc's stamped on the left bottom of the jug just above the case. Triple discs, compression release on left handlebar, square H/Lamp with guard, black nose piece, sound familiar? I have a couple of pics of mine on my website. Check 'em out to see if it looks like mine. They are cool old quads. Blows away 250ex's, jumps good, great brakes and keeps up with newer quads too. Take your VIN to any Suzuki dealer and they can tell you exactly what you have. Or maybe good old KNOWSALOT will read this thread and fix you up. Mine was red/orange with UGLY gold colored rims before I redid it. Let us know what you have when you find out for sure!

Bobcatv8, it has 298 cm3 stamped on the jug. Any way to figure out what year model other than going to Suzuki dealer?

298?? I've not heard of that size on a Suzuki sport quad. Mine says 229 cm3 on it. Could it be 248? Does it look like my '86 from my site? Maybe someone swapped the jug from a larger Suzuki engine of the same family? On a quad that old, lots of things could have been done to it. Some Suzuki parts and service guys hang out on this site, maybe one of them can run your VIN. I have found the boys at my local dealer to be quite helpful to me. Maybe because I've bought 2 new ATVs and a bunch of parts from them. You don't have a good dealer in your area? If not, you might oughta make some friends at one, you will need some parts eventually. Anyone out there got any good info on this quad?
BTW, I think the electric start models were called LT230E and had the battery mounted out back up under the grab bar area. Other than that they looked very much like the S models.

Your right Bobcatv8, it does have 229 on it. It looks just like the one on your web site, well not as good. I guess it is a LT230S. Thanks for all your help, I will talk to the local Suzuki house and see if they can check on the year for me. Mine still has the old gold rims on the front. I hope to a little work on it along, maybe some time it will look as good as yours.
