Trust me many MFG's have tried what others think of odd ball Ideas and if adding a fan to the airbox was an effective or cheep source of power someone would have it out now. >>
The problem isn't that the systems don't work, it's just too expensive to mass manufacture vs the amount of power gained. Keeping something at or above X psig is fairly simple otherwise air compressors would cost more than they do.
It's $/hp that is the problem.

I used to sell those as bilge blowers for boats. I didn't know they where good as a power adder. The problem here is that it is NOT a compressor. With that thing you will not build BOOST. Put it on a Ballon and see how much it fills it.
