I just sold my sportsman 500 and like the new vinson 500 manual.Does anyone know if the vinsons are as fast or faster than a sportsman?I really liked my sportsman but wanted to get a manual and something a little sportier.My sportsman topped out right at 60.thanks!

 

I've heard that the auto Vinson will do 62-63 and the manual is said to be alot faster. I can't say for sure, but I would like to take one for a spin.

 

The Vinson is alot lighter than your old SP500 and it should have about the same power or more depending if you had the High Output version. It won't be as good a mudder as your SP500 because of the not true 4x4 system. It has almost zero maintenance and the manual version for '03 was beefed up in the power department again, I'm sure the '03 auto got the power increase too though. With gears you will never ever have a problem or failure, guaranteed to get home unless you blow the motor or something. So I think it will feel sportier than your SP500 because of weight and power.

 

My girfriend had her automatic Vinson up to 62mph at 5100 ft. elevation. I backed off when my auto Vinson hit 60. The Vinsons hit 50+ very quickly, then wind out to their top speed. I read a review that said the manual Vinsons actually pull better at the top end than the automatics. I hope that's true. The Vinson is a great bike.

I rode an 03 Vinson manual yesterday and I liked it. I was not able to hit top speed in the dealer parking lot, but it felt alot stronger on take off than my 02 Vinson does.
