My YZ80 would beat a piped 400EX easily. It had 24HP stock that's without a power valve. if it's a new RM they have powervalves just a little RM80 will have over 28HP. My YZ80 had a Pro Circuit pipe, milled head, ported cylinder, Boyesen reeds, 13T sprocket and lots more. It was very fast for a 80, just crack the throttle going 50 and it would come up in a hurry, I broke my arm and had a lot of road rash because of this. I think it would be a close race. You guys might think I'm stupid because when you look at the displacement #'s, well compare power to weight, RM80 weight ~150LBS w/ around 28HP

I’ve outrun 2 RM125's on my 86 (non power valve) LT250.
There is no way a stock RM80 has 28hp. Think about it, if it did then how many hp would a RM250 have stock?
I think that dirtbikes vs. ATV’s is similar to the general 2 vs. 4 stroke rule. You need about twice as many cc’s to win on a quad if all mods are equal.

I have seen a RM 85 beat a piped Craptor in a drag race in wet sand. Not just once but a couple of times. The craptor rider weighs about 235lbs and the 13 year old kid about 80lbs wet. Not to mention the difference in bike to quad weight.

I dont put much faith in #s posted on message boards.
What I know is that my lt250 can take a RM125. If a RM80 has 28hp then a RM125 would have smoked an lt500 no less my lt250.
The only possible way it could have that much hp would be if both the bikes I raced were in extremely bad shape.
Still common sense would tell anyone who has seen a 400lb+ 4 wheeler with 50+ hp and has seen a stock 250 dirtbike run that the dirtbike has nowhere near 50hp.
