RAPTORYMF660R, I agre with your post that running rich means too much gasoline delivered to the engine, but the ratio he is mixing at 70:1 is a lean mixture.
I guess it depends on what type of oil used, etc, but to me his motor will not be getting proper lubrication with that little oil in the gas. Jetting of course will control the amount of fuel to the engine. A two cycle engine will run great if there's no oil in the gas, but it won't run long!
That was the point I was trying to make.

LT250R90RDR, what type of oil is that, and have you been running that all along? Also, do you have a stock carb and jetting?

If your running 70 parts fuel to 1 part oil you are too Rich not lean.

The fuel is the problem not the oil. He needs more oil to replace the fuel.

The first thing that troubles me when I read your post is "Revvin' to get it warm"
A cold engine should never be revved, and furthermore, no load placed upon it when it's cold. I don't even sling a leg over until the engine is at full operating temp!

You're oil ratio sounds hokkus... Amsoil sells some 100:1 oil, but I am not aware of any oils out there that recommend a 70:1 ratio...

Good luck

Although I would recommend a minimum of 32:1 mixture, if it ran good on 70:1 before it would still do so now. 70 parts fuel to 1 part oil burns the same now as it did the last time he rode the Quad.

His fuel/air mixture could change for a lot of different reasons (most likely would be dirty filter or a carb problem) and so could the quality of his spark. Those are the things I would look at first.

Also as Duneaddict said, you should definitely not be "Revvin' to get it warm".

I start mine for the first time on the trailer before I even unstrap it so it runs for a minute or 2 while unloading. Then I ride it light throttle for 5 minutes or so before I open it up.

OK, away from the lean/rich issue. I'm assuming your quad was running fine before this. You said the plug was black and nasty looking. Did you check and see if you are getting proper spark like tomM stated?
If you are getting a good blue spark and your filter is clean it is possible that there is a carb issue. Has it been sitting up for a long period of time?
Now this may sound crazy too, but I've had it happen to me after cleaning the filter and air box out. I had forgot the rag I was using to clean my airbox inside the boot (duh). Well, my quad ran for a minute and quit like you stated. Just a thought cause I sure felt like an idiot after I pulled my filter back off and found it.
