How can a CR be old technology? If you consider new and improved an engine design that has twice as many parts as a two stroke and is slower
when compared with the same displacement of a two stroke, then you're wrong. For as long as two strokes have been around....even to this day, it's technology is still improving. Better porting techniques, intake and exhaust designs and so on. It wasn't that long ago ESR came up with the center mount exhaust system and made a new standard for two stroke exhaust. Just because the two stroke engine is fairly basic, doesn't make it easy and outdated.
I agree, four strokes do have their place and their technology is growing, but it isn't cause they are better than two strokes. It's simply because four
strokes are the newest thing at has the most attention. The day the market has stock 250X's that are as fast as stock Tecate 4's, a 200X as fast
as a blaster or a Raptor350/Warrior as fast as a banshee PLUS having just as much modification potential capable of well over 100HP PLUS be as light or lighter, I will consider it a "better" design.

Two strokes can last a long time with no major engine work. It depends on how u drive and maintain them. My 250-r is 20years old, engine hasn't been touched!!!
