Default Front sprocket on 02 lakota sport

yes, i have a 2002 kawasaki lakota sport. i somehow put a hole in my tranny side cover last summer, where the chain came loose and bunched up near the front sprocket breaking 2 pieces of the tranny side cover. its a $21 part, but i have had no luck getting the front sprocket off to remove the old cover. all it is, is a nut holding the bugger on there. i cant bust it loose. If anyone has any ideas or know's how to get this thing off please reply, i would greatly appreciate it, im trying to sell this thing. Also, if anyone knows what happened or why an explaination would be great too. Thanks.

If you havent figured it out yet, you just need a good impact wrench. Mine was stuck on unbelievably tight. Even the impact took a minute to break it loose. Best of luck.
