Default Ozark shifting issue

Picked up an 08' Ozark for my son and now that we've had a chance to run it a bit I noticed that it sometimes does not shift down to neutral. When shifting through gears I haven't noticed any issue just when I want to go down to neutral (like if I want to shut it off). Of course if its not in neutral I can't restart it. The shifter will go down no problem but it doesn't always 'click'. Sometimes it takes a while constantly clicking it down before it finally clicks and lights up the neutral light. Is this an easy fix for a newbie like me? Or did I get taken and will end up with a costly repair?

do you have an owner's manual that may show you where the neutral switch is located? it may be just a dirty contact. find the neutral switch and inspect it and its wiring. hopefully that'll be it.

Nah, not the light. I can tell that its still in gear, plus it won't start if not in neutral. Thanks for the tip though...
