Hello,
I have a 2006 Polaris sportsman 500 HO. Non Efi
I was riding along the other day and the atv just quit almost
Like someone had reached over and hit the kill switch
It would not refire...after towing it back in then it decided to
Start but I really had to crank it awhile. But it will only idle,
If I give it any amount of throttle at all it kills.
I replaced the fuel filter, the fuel, the air filter and also the spark plug
And still the same situation.(for what it's worth, the Polaris dealer also rebuilt the carb about 8 hours worth of use
Before this problem arose). Does anyone have any ideas
On this one?

the air intake can come off the carb it will die

 

Ecm modules caused all sorts of problems on these models. Recalls on 2004 through 2006 various models replacing Chinese with American made Sure power modules,but even these were prone to fail. Could be your problem.Huge ATV Recall by Polaris - Sportsman and Scrambler
