Default Polaris scrambler 400 4x4 overheating problem

I have a 2000 Polaris scrambler 400 4x4, and the overheating light comes on after riding it for a while, then it starts bogging out then shuts off. After a few minutes it will turn back on but eventually it will shut off again. This happend twice in the summer and now it keeps happening in the winter, and I'm going through about 18-23 inches of snow with the 4x4. If any body's had this problem and or got it fixed let me know what was wrong, and the mechanic's out there let me know what you think...... I really don't want to take it in & can't work on it for a while because it's really cold where I'm at, and I can't wait till spring to work on it.

I forgot to say the fan is working and it always turns on even in the cold let me know if that's suposed to happen. And I checked the anti freeze seems fine no leaks anywhere. Could be the water pump? Idk let me know what you think.

Let it cool off and top off the radiator.Don't crank it up until you bleed the 10mm bolt on the head to remove any air pockets.Let it bleed until you see nothing but coolant then close the bolt. Run the machine and see if it runs ok. If it still bogs down, could be a head gasket leaking, piston trying to seize up on you,or leaking coolant past the water pump onto the counter balancer cavity.Should see a milky colored fluid from the counter balance vent tube if it is.Plus check that the oil pump is working ok. You can pull the bolt off the intake manifold holding the oil injector line and feel if it's oily.
