Sounds like you are going to be pulling some serious weight with it pulling a livestock trailer. You can get what like 6 to 8 cattle in there? At 1200 each, that's 7200-9600 pounds. Wow, lots of weight.

The '05 Fords have the towing crown right now. You can get up to 19,000lbs available (note, that it's hard to say if you can actually tow that with all things considered) with an F-350 with the Tow Boss package or whatever it's called. But that's ONLY on a std. cab, long bed 4x2, PSD, AT (TorqueShift) and 4.30 rear. Of course you might want to look at moving up to a Class IV or V truck (F-450/550, GMs 4500 & 5500 series). Or other MDT.

Ford has a completely integrated brake controller. I'd say look beyond just the motor under the hood. They are ALL very good. Look at features, price, etc.

Powerstroke is made by international (Navistar) not ford........ the old IDI 7.3 was a ford motor. If you put the cummins in a ford you'd have a pretty good truck......... I don't mind the cummins i just don't like the dodge around it. Plus the cummins aint a real fast motor, like the strokker but still solid as a rock.

I've owned both the Duramax and for the last year a Cummins. The Cummins will out pull the Duramax. The Cummins is a little slower off the line(auto tranny) but it will hold the speed up hill better in my experience. It's also better than the older Fords IMO, and I don't have any experience with the newer Ford 6.0.
